RDA Toolkit Workshop (Morning Session)

This half-day event will take place in the morning and again, on the afternoon of Friday, January 24th. The same content will be presented at both workshops so you should only plan to attend one. The workshop will provide an in-depth update on the beta site and recent changes. ALA Publishing representatives will cover all aspects of the site. Please bring your laptop.

The Chapter Leaders Forum, presented by the ALA Chapter Relations Committee and Chapter Relations Office at each ALA Midwinter and Annual, provides a great opportunity for you, as Chapter Leaders (especially incoming leaders) to meet with each other and discuss topics of interest. There are times nearly every day when we have to make a choice of whether to use good etiquette or possibly risk embarrassment. Good manners can mean the difference between success and failure in many aspects of life. This interactive presentation will equip you with essential skills to help you put your best foot forward and avoid making a faux pas. The session focuses on professional etiquette as it relates to dining, dress/appearance (for job interviews, receptions, etc.), behavior, and communications in the professional world.
We will provide an extensive tutorial on etiquette skills needed when meeting potential employers, colleagues, or others in professional and social networking settings. Whether you are a student, a new graduate, or a professional who has been working for years, the information provided in this session will be useful as an introduction or refresher. Come celebrate the 2020 honorees and winners for the William C. Morris and Excellence in Nonfiction Awards! Hear from the winners and finalists as they speak about their honored titles. After the presentations, mingle with the authors and pick up free copies of their books. Attendees will be able to select 3-4 book, generously donated by the Publishers. The Morris finalists and Nonfiction finalists are announced the first week of December. Coffee, tea, and danish will be served.
